What Are the Classifications of Brake Boosters?

The brake booster is an important part of the vehicle's braking system. It increases the braking effect by increasing the brake pedal torque, allowing the driver to stop the car more quickly in an emergency. There are different types of brake boosters, mainly including the following:

1. Mechanical brake booster: It mainly consists of a pump body with a piston and a cylinder body with a piston. When the driver steps on the brake pedal, the pump body will generate compressed air or hydraulic fluid and transfer these media to the cylinder body, thereby amplifying the brake pedal force.

2. Hydraulic brake booster: It usually consists of a master cylinder and a slave cylinder containing a piston. When the driver applies pressure on the brake pedal, the master cylinder will generate high-pressure hydraulic fluid, which is then directed to the slave cylinder to increase the torque generated by the brake pedal.

3. Vacuum brake booster: Its structure includes a vacuum chamber with a piston and a cylinder body with a piston. When the driver steps on the brake pedal, the vacuum state in the vacuum chamber will be broken, causing the pressure in the cylinder to drop, thereby amplifying the brake pedal force.
